A Submarine Base in the Rocky Mountains?

The Rocky Mountain Submarine “Base” is a chapter of the United States Submarine Veterans, Inc. (USSVI).  Our “Base” is a fraternal base composed of members residing in the greater Denver area and northern front-range of the majestic Rocky Mountains.

USSVI is a national organization composed of current and former U. S. Navy personnel... officers and enlisted, active duty, retired, veterans... regardless of current status... who have earned the right to wear the coveted submarine insignia --- Dolphins --- meaning they are “Qualified in Submarines”.

Our Creed

"To perpetuate the memory of our shipmates who gave their lives in the pursuit of duties while serving their country. That their dedication, deeds and supreme sacrifice be a constant source of motivation toward greater accomplishments. Pledge loyalty and patriotism to the United States Government."

The Submarine Warfare Insignia (usually known as "dolphins" or "fish") is a uniform breast pin worn by enlisted men (silver) dolphins-silver and officers (gold) dolphins-gold of the United States Navy to indicate that they are qualified in submarines. The Submarine Warfare insignia is considered one of the Navy's three major warfare pins along with the Surface Warfare Badge and the Naval Aviator Badge. To earn the right to wear the pin, prospective submariners complete an extensive qualification process that lasts about one year (for both enlisted and officers, though the two programs differ significantly) and covers virtually all of the submarine's systems.

Associate memberships for non-Submariners are available and welcomed.

There are two additional USSVI “Bases” in Colorado.  The “Southern Colorado Base”, located in the greater Colorado Springs and southern front-range of the Rockies, and the “Thunder Mountain Base”, located in the Grand Junction/Fruita area and encompassing  the Western Slope of the Rockies,
